Professional Massage Therapist & Bodyworker since 1985.   My results-oriented practice is inspired by: Osteopathic & myo-fascial techniques, Thai Medical Massage, Rolfing, Iyengar Yoga, AIS Activated Isolated Stretching & Movement Education. Most people find me word of mouth and come because of pain acute or chronic, but my varied practice also includes those seeking stress relief, elderly clients and injured pets in the South Bay.

I began Massage Therapy when I was 21 and have practiced & studied continously in the field.  I have worked with lots of MD's & Neurologists, owner of 3 clinics  in addition to resort spa employment where I was always the most requested therapist.  Currently I PREFER TO KEEP LIFE SIMPLE AND Individualized IN MY CUTE LITTLE QUIET OFFICE IN SAN MATEO.

I am a passionate functional anatomist with a medical approach & holistic understanding!

Personally I grew up a surfer girl on an island off Charleston SC which led me to Hawaii in 1980 to compete in professional surfing. My latest love & workout is CROSSFIT.    WWW.CROSSFIT.COM

A lifeguarding accident  (sacral fracture and 2 ruptured discs and surgery) caused me to be bedridden for 2 years. Allopathic medicine no longer helped and chiropractic made it worse.  This led me to Manual Therapies and Iyengar Yoga for relief of severe leg and spinal pain. Connoisseurs understand that the best healers are wounded healers.
I have studied and practice many powerful techniques from very subtle (MLD-MANUAL LYMPH DRAINAGE & Cranial Sacral Therapy) to very deep -Rolfing, Acupressure, Neuro-Muscular Therapy, Rossiter Coaching, Thai Medical Massage, Myofascial Release, Breema Bodywork, and LaStone Therapy.

In 1985 I opened my first practice in Haleiwa on the North Shore where I stayed
surfing and practicing massage therapy and Iyengar yoga for 20 years.  I have been in the San Francisco Bay Area since 2000 and have practiced BodyWork full time for nearly 30 years!

I offer relief and recovery from computer related postural neck & back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, sciatica, frozen shoulder, pelvic floor related problems and other chronic soft tissue pains.

The source of pain in many these and other chronic soft tissue complaints is simple:
Injury to the muscle occurs, either from a sudden trauma or slowly from repetitive use; and acromial or pelvic architecture related postural strains

Muscle tightens and remains tight through a constant synapses.  Muscles that are short and tight cause a host of problems including:
Restricting circulation causing inflammation, muscle pain, and antagonistic lenght strength imbalnces
Compressing nerves, such as cervical headache, sciatica & carpal tunnel
Putting a constant tension on the tendons, which causes additional pain by pulling joints out of alignment, inflaming attachments of the tendon to bone (e.g., tennis elbow), or inneficient joint patterning.
Scar tissue (fascial fuzz) grows into the tightened muscle, further inhibiting stretching of the muscle fibers.  Pain becomes chronic, and the muscles tighten further in response.
Unfortunately, doing nothing or more of the same, or conventional medical treatment actually feeds into this vicious cycle.  Compression, ice, and "support" that restricts movement encourage the already tight muscles to remain tightened.  Although temporary relief from symptoms may occur, blood flow to the area of pain is further reduced when movement is restricted, meaning that healing doesn't begin to take place.   Meanwhile, anti-inflammatory drugs mask the stress being placed on the muscles, leading to overuse and furthering tightening.
